Oral presentations Guidelines
(This assignment accounts for 10% of your total class grade)
Topic: The same topic as your term paper
Length: 8-10 minutes
Grading criteria:
1. Handout: 15%
- The handout must include expanded information to complement your oral presentation. It must include a short bibliography of primary and secondary sources. Please distribute printed copies to your classmates before the presentation.
2. Content: 50%
- I recommend you use the same structure as your paper so it logically flows from introduction, arguments and conclusion.
- Strike a balance between the breadth and depth of your topic's knowledge. Be informative but also use your critical analytical skills. Don't merely recite facts or data but also provide your own conclusions.
- Include in your discussion, what role–if any–do religion and/or migration play?
3. Delivery: 20%
a. You will be graded on how engaging and interesting, fluent and expressive you seem to the audience and how you tailored your presentation for the intended purpose of informing or persuading.
4) Visual Aids: 15%
- The visual aids must help to make the theme more visually appealing and to reinforce the presentation's content. You can use clips under the following conditions: 3 clips of 20 seconds each or one lasting one minute (60 seconds).
- Make sure to upload your presentation before class starts.
