Storyline:: Machuca is set in Santiago in 1973, during the days leading up to the military coup against Salvador Allende’s government. The film follows the friendship between Gonzalo, a privileged boy, and Pedro Machuca, a boy from a poorer background, as they navigate their differences amidst a politically turbulent Chile. Their bond is strained and ultimately disrupted by the coup, which leads to the militarization of their school and the expulsion of several students.
